Ghibellins Battlement. Since the tyranny of Ezzelino da Romano, until the Scaliger domination, Verona has always been a Ghibellini town. Ghibellini was the party that supported the political power of the emperor against the pope. The feud between the two parties ath the end of the 1300s, are probably the scenario behind the development of the legend of Romeo and Juliet. Swallow tail battlements are a typical "trade mark" of Veronese urban landscape.
