The Roman Theater

-
Roman theater. Together with Ponte Pietra (stone bridge) is one of the few Roman building of the Ist Century b.C.
It was built using the natural slope of St. Peter's hill, facing the river Adige, one of the most fascinating places of Verona. It was a gorgeous monument, decorated with statues, columns, marbles of different colors. Heavily damaged during the dark ages it ended up completely covered buy various buildings. Discovered at the end of XX century, after a long excavation and restoration work it is now still used in Summer for Verona Jazz Festival and Shakespare Festival plays.
